Busy day today doing some shopping for the next leg of our
trip. Lunch down town then in the evening made our way to the market before heading
to the beach to see the moon too much cloud to see the moon rise.

29th May Port Smith – Broome
Made our way to Broome today with another stop at Roebuck
for morning tea, we all went and looked at the shops in the afternoon and went
for a swim in the pool at the park.
28th May Port Smith
The same today down for a swim in the morning and fishing in
the afternoon with another fish dinner.
27th May Port Smith
Went down to see how far the tide comes in and not much beach
left so we had a swim and it was very nice. Back to the beach in the afternoon
for some more fishing.
26th May Nillibubbica RA – Port Smith
At Roebuck not far from where we camped we turn south and
head 100ks down to the turnoff to Port Smith, a sandy road in but good.
Caravan park basic but nice, after we set up we drove the
short distance to the beach and the water was crystal clear did some fishing in
the afternoon.
25th May Fitzroy Crossing – Nillibubbica RA
Today we are leaving Fitzroy Crossing not sure were will stay
tonight as no plans, saw a few things on the way and arrived at this great rest
area at around lunch time and we decided to set up camp for the night.
24th May Fitzroy Crossing
Today we are just doing very little visiting the town which
there was not a great lot of shops and the
IGA was the biggest store. Had a swim in the pool at the caravan park
and in the late afternoon had a drink at the bar

23rd May Halls Creek – Fitzroy Crossing
Made our way out of Halls Creek after visiting the bakery,
now we are back on the black top which was great after 3 long days on the
Tanami stopped off at Mary Pool for morning tea before venturing on to Fitzroy
Crossing.
Had a great cruise down the Fitzroy River in the late
afternoon (Gegiki Gorge).
22nd May WA Border – Halls Creek
The road was quite bad from the border so it too us a little
while to get to Bililuna to fill up with fuel, the road did not get any better
after that and we where all glad to get to Halls Creek.
Decided to have the night in the caravan park there not sure
if that was a good move. Things did not get
bad that night just told to lock everything up and sleep with your wallets
under the pillow.
21st May Mt Doreen Ruins – WA Border
As usual an 8:30am start the wind still howling and the dust
blowing everywhere morning tea stopped at one of the bores and the wind still
blowing and so much dust.
We came across a big fire along the way and had to drive
passed as it was very close to the road, and now onto the border stop.
20th May Alice Springs – Mt Doreen ruins
We left Alice Spring and the wind was howling we made our
way to Tilmouth Wells had some morning tea on the road. Just before Yuendumu, let down tyres as this is where the dirt
starts so had some lunch. When we arrived in Yuendumu it does not change any
had an ice cream from the shop and continued on until we found the turnoff to
Mt Doreen Ruins.
19th May Alice Springs
We did a lot of cleaning to get ready to do the next part of
our trip tomorrow all the washing is now done and put away., In the night all
the girls went to Robin’s cabin to watch the royal wedding.

18th May Alice Springs
Desert Park today and we had a lovely time the bird show was
the best. At night we went out for dinner at the Casino and the food was really
good.
17th May Alice Springs
We took a drive to Owen Springs ruins and on our way home
booked into the Desert Park for the night tour of the animals which we really
great.
16th May Alice Springs
The girls had a shopping day today and we hit the shops in
Alice Springs looking for all the things we thought we needed.
Boys went to the Truck museum for the morning and had a good
time.
15th May Redbank Waterhole – Alice Springs
Around 70ks into Alice this morning we arrive around 11am
booked into the big4 caravan park. Now for the cleaning of the vans and doing
some shopping as no one had any food left.
Starting to get very cold here.
14th May Redbank Waterhole
Today we are taking a small drive to Rainbow Valley to have
a look and it is about 50ks away from where we have camped. Did a walk there
and returned back to camp.
Sat in the sun for the afternoon and the boys organised a
fire as we are having a camp oven cook up and as usual lots of food was cook.

11th Ayres Rock
Did the walk around the rock today 23/4 hr which was very
good and the weather was a bit cooler. In the afternoon the girls went Dot
painting in the town square which was a lot of fun.
Now back at camp to get the dinner and have a chat. Tonight
was a bit cool to sit around and talk to long tonight.
10th Ayres Rock
The boys thought about climbing the rock today and when we
arrived at the rock it was closed so we all did the Marla Walk (guided) which was
very interesting.
After the walk we decided to go to the visitor centre for
lunch, very slow service and I think we had to wait ½ hr for them to make us
hamburger & chips very slow.
Back to camp for the after noon just relaxing and talking. Kerry’s birthday today so we had cake after
dinner.
9th Kulgera – Ayres Rock
Back on the main road to Ayres Rock today and around 300ks
so out of camp early 8:30am, stopped on the road for morning tea and arrived in
Ayres rock around 1pm.
Had a look around the place in the afternoon before having
happy hr then dinner and chatting in the evening not very cold yet.
8th Lambert Centre
On dirt road this morning heading to the Lambert Centre
around 150ks which too us around 3hrs road good.
When we arrived at the Lambert Centre we had lots of photos
and lunch before heading back to Kulgera and arrived back at camp around
3pm. Looked at the mini Olgers on the way
in.
7th Cadney Roadhouse – Kulgera
Made our way to Kulgera this morning along the highway. Arrived in Kulgera around 12:30pm checked in
at the roadhouse and found a good spot.
Looked around the pub there in the afternoon and played another
game of cards. Saw a truck load of camels come into the roadhouse in the
afternoon.
6th Coober Pedy – Cadney Roadhouse
We left Coober Pedy the usual time 8:30am and headed west
for Cadney roadhouse which was around 150ks.
We had a quick stop for morning tea then arrived around 11am at the
roadhouse check in and found a spot for all the vans.
Some of the group went to the painted desert for a look, we
played cards with Robin & Pete for the afternoon.

30th April Wilpena Pound – Alpana Station
9:30am leaving camp heading 50ks up into the Flinders more
stopping at several lookouts. We arrived
at the station in time for lunch and took a drive up to Blinman and then in the
late afternoon took a drive on the property to a hut 7ks from the homestead and
then to a lookout for the sunset. On our
way back which was dark Pete lost his roof rack on top of the car and we had to
leave it there until the next day.
5th May William Creek – Coober Pedy
156ks of dirt to Coober Pedy not much to see on the way except
Cadibarrawirracanna Lake and we were not sure what was there and surprised to
see some water in it. The road was good
all the way into Coober Pedy and we arrived in great time. Looked around town for awhile before heading
back to the caravan park.
4th May Marree – William Creek
3rd May Beltana – Marree
Heading off today and the weather was not so great as we
arrived in Copley for a pie and then went onto Farina there was a dust storm
when we arrived so we decided it was not worth staying. We then made our way to
Marree.
2nd May Beltana
We had to wait here as the others went to Arkaroola and we
had to get Pete’s car back together. So they worked hard all morning we fed the
little lambs first thing. The others
arrived around 5:30pm ready to have some dinner the station put on as it was
Chris’s birthday.

1st May Alpana Station – Port Augusta – Beltana
First thing we had to do today was go back and get Pete’s
rack and put it on our car. We then had
to drive 230ks to Port Augusta to get parts for the rack and a new areal while
we were there we did some shopping and was out of Port Augusta by 1:30pm with
lunch at a little café in Quorn on the way.
